About Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities is a charitable organization that serves under the auspices of the Catholic Church. The organization offers many services, including substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health treatment.

The Diocese of Metuchen’s Bridgewater Family Service Center is in Bridgewater, New Jersey and offers outpatient treatment for SUD and mental health, as well as family support services. The programs accept Medicare, Medicaid and private health insurance. They also offer an income based sliding fee scale and self pay options.

Counseling at Your Convenience

I think clients will appreciate that the team at this facility provides treatment services at flexible times, including weekends and evenings. They also have counselors on call 24 hours per day for some of the programs.

Although the organization is Catholic, and its services are rooted in Catholic teachings, you don’t have to be Catholic to receive treatment. They treat all individuals regardless of their religious beliefs or background.

The facility is conveniently located on US 22. The area has over 1,420 acres devoted to parkland. Duke Island Park is a few miles from the Family Service Center and offers a fishing pond, paved trails and playgrounds where families can go to relax and connect between treatments.

The SPIRIT Program in Bridgewater, New Jersey

The SPIRIT program (Supportive Partners in Recovery and Treatment) is an intensive outpatient program. I like that the program provides individualized outpatient mental health care for acute clients.

The program assists adults 18 and over who have a mental health diagnosis. The individual’s symptoms must be interfering with daily life functions in at least two areas. The program includes treatment for those with co-occurring SUD.

Clients engage in individual and group therapy, medication monitoring, illness management recovery, support groups and substance abuse education. Some limited transportation is available for those clients who are unable to transport themselves.
