About Caspar Emergency Services Center

CASPAR (Cambridge And Somerville Programs for Addiction Recovery) belongs to the greater Bay Cove Human Services network. The CASPAR Emergency Services Center (ESC) is located at 240 Albany Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Bay Cove is a social service organization that helps Massachusetts residents address substance use issues, mental health problems and homelessness among others. CASPAR offers services to support people at every stage of their substance use recovery journey. These range from outreach to aftercare housing. They’re all about providing tailored and nonjudgmental help that improves the general wellbeing of the community they serve.

Addiction Recovery for the Homeless

This is a residential shelter for homeless men and women who are actively using drugs and alcohol. The ESC is open any time to residents of Cambridge. Their safe and welcoming space ensures these high-risk populations receive life-changing support that is nonjudgmental.

Clients benefit from a structured program that sets them on a path to lasting healing and a more rosy future. If you or anyone you know is struggling with both homelessness and substance use disorders, CASPAR’s ESC can really help. They’ll provide you with basic necessities like clean clothes, personal hygiene supplies and nutritional meals.

Medical and mental healthcare is provided depending on your unique needs. You’ll receive counseling and case management services as well.
Counseling provides emotional support, helps you address the root causes of your addiction and develops coping strategies to avoid relapse.

It’s an opportunity to build trust, set recovery goals and connect with community resources that facilitate lasting sobriety. These resources include stable housing, job placement or employment opportunities and even educational programs. These are achieved via case management. They also offer referrals to more intense treatment options within the community when appropriate.

Recovery in the bustling city of Cambridge

This recovery program serves the indigent and homeless community who may not be able to afford private transportation. This makes public transportation access very important. Thankfully, this facility is located in the bustling city of Cambridge which is part of the greater Boston area.

This location is well served by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). Some of the bus routes that can get you to the facility are CT2, 47 and 64. The Central Square MBTA station is about 10 minutes walking distance from the location. Homeless from Boston, Somerville and Brookline can benefit from the services offered here as well. They’re pretty close.

The shelter is within walking distance of many natural attractions including Dana Park, Charles River Esplanade and Cambridge Common. This can offer a great recreational and therapeutic benefit if you’re allowed recreational outings.
