About Care Resource Community Health Center Little Havana
Care Resource is accredited by The Joint Commission and CARF. They’re Little Havana site is in a corner of suburban Miami, Florida. They’re a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing gender and transgender quality care to all ages who are struggling with behavioral health and substance use disorders. You’ll benefit from receiving treatment here because they offer multifaceted services such as dental care, HIV/HEP C testing and treatment, medical care, support groups, and outpatient treatment.
Since their founding, their vision has been to have a team of skilled clinicians provide guidance, support, and treatment making treatment and care more accessible to underserved and vulnerable populations. What I find unique about them is the many multifaceted services they have available. I think it’s great how they emphasize being an open, comfortable, and safe atmosphere to communities of color as well as the LGBTQ+ community.
What stands out to me is their outpatient treatment services providing specialized services for addiction and co-occurring conditions. The road to recovery can be overwhelming especially when you’re struggling with chronic conditions such as HIV/AIDS that could be related to active addiction. They provide integrative care by offering case management, group and solo therapy, links to community resources, and individual placement and support (IPS). By receiving these services, you can develop coping skills, receive job assistance, and get help managing your meds.
Another amazing feature is their treatment for behavioral health and substance abuse for the LGBTQ+ community. The stigmas against the LGBTQ+ community can make it difficult for clients to reach out and ask for help because of the fear of being misunderstood. One of the many programs provided is their SURE Housing Initiative Study and Intervention program. This includes rent and moving assistance, case management, and housing navigation for individuals who identify as transgendered.
If you’re uninsured or underinsured, they offer sliding scale fees to provide you the care you need to elevate and enhance your quality of life.
