About CAO

Drug Abuse Research and Treatment (DART) is a SAMHSA-certified opioid treatment program Buffalo, NY. Since 1971, DART has offered medication-assisted treatment with common modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma counseling and 12-step facilitation for adults.

This facility is part of the Community Action Organization of Western New York and combines clinical excellence with connections to housing, employment, and family support services.

Medication-Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder

DART specializes in medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders. I've found they offer methadone maintenance, buprenorphine and naltrexone as vital treatment.

This program has over 50 years of experience and CARF accreditation, providing comprehensive assessments and medical evaluations for each person as a whole.

I've found these sessions combined with medication management including CBT, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention helps individuals with recovery.

Patients praise DART's compassionate doctors and intake nurses.

Holistic Care and Special Programs

DART offers specialized services for pregnant and postpartum women, trauma survivors, and young adults. Through individual counseling, group therapy, family therapy, and life skills training, this vital program helps patients rebuild their lives in the community.

DART serves patients throughout Western New York from its Main Street location in Buffalo, offering both in-person and telehealth services. The program is federally certified and OASAS licensed, with medical oversight from experienced addiction medicine professionals.

DART accepts Medicare, Medicaid, private pay, and offers a sliding fee scale based on income, with Spanish language services available.
