About Camelot Outpatient Services

Camelot Outpatient Services is located on Forest Avenue in Staten Island, New York. This is a nonprofit outpatient mental health and substance use disorder treatment center. This outpatient program treats adults 18 and older. They work to make treatment affordable for anyone who needs treatment, and they offer a sliding scale for fees. They also take most HMO and insurance plans as well as Medicaid.

A unique aspect of this program is the focus on those who may not have used drugs at all - the spouses, children, parents, and loved ones of those who misuse substances. They help families get the guidance and support they need. They offer a weekly program led by trained counselors to help families cope with the turmoil that accompanies substance use disorder.

Through the counseling, family members come to understand their habits that may enable the loved one’s substance use. This whole family commitment approach is an integral part of the treatment to provide sustained recovery for the substance user and the family.

The outpatient program for the client includes daily group sessions. There’s also at least one individual counseling session per week. Clients are educated about chemical dependence, anger management, and health issues such as safe sex. There are seminars and recreational activities. The outpatient program also includes outpatient withdrawal if appropriate, as well as medication assisted treatment (MAT). The programs include relapse prevention education.

The program works on repairing past trauma and teaching daily life skills to help clients achieve self mastery while fostering independence and reducing feelings of inadequacy.
