Caldwell House

Known for its rich history in furniture manufacturing, Lenoir, North Carolina is home to Caldwell House. This private, nonprofit residential facility has provided a safe, sober environment for adult men to hone in on addiction recovery for more than 30 years.

What stands out most to me is their comfortable, home like facility. It’s situated on 10 acres of land where they provide a safe space for recovery for up to 26 clients at a time. You'll benefit from a clean, substance free environment with all the comforts of home.

They offer modern facilities, semi private rooms, spacious common areas and a large family style dining room. You can also enjoy healthy food with three wholesome meals provided daily.

Treatment Duration

Another great feature I noticed was their treatment duration. They require a commitment of at least four months but many clients spend between nine and 18 months in their program.

Longer treatment times mean you'll have plenty of opportunities to heal and gain essential skills to transition back to society. They focus on responsibility, accountability, and structure to help you find employment and remain active in recovery after treatment.

12 Step Approach

I also think their emphasis on 12 step programming is beneficial. They require you to attend various 12-step meetings both on and off campus. Their convenient location provides access to many local meetings including Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, and Al Anon.

Community Service

Their community service initiatives also caught my eye. They offer a free, 24 hour helpline with information for families seeking substance abuse treatment. You can access guidance, information, and direction for multiple levels of care and 12 Step meetings.
