About Brattleboro Retreat
Brattleboro Retreat is a nonprofit mental health hospital in Brattleboro, Vermont. They focus on mental health issues for children, teens and adults. Treatments for a wide range of issues including substance abuse, mental illness and behavioral issues are available for all ages. Their team of doctors, nurses and social workers specialize in mental health, so you get the care that you need. They offer both inpatient and outpatient levels of care and have specialty programs for first responders and healthcare workers as well as LBGTQ+ individuals.
They have a dedicated inpatient program for adults and separate ones for children and teens. For all patients, the first step is a clinical assessment. Patients get crisis stabilization, custom treatment plans and aftercare support.
Brattleboro Retreat offers short term residential stays. Typically these last between five and 14 days. Traditional outpatient therapy is available through their onsite Anna Marsh clinic so that you can continue your progress.
I like that they also offer virtual outpatient programs for people who can’t or prefer not to attend in person. They offer partial hospitalization, which meets every weekday for half the day, and an intensive outpatient program that meets for 2.5 hours daily. These highly structured programs primarily use group therapy to engage you in therapeutic experiences that will help your recovery. Group sessions and individual therapy with your counselor all take place over Zoom.
Their campus looks like a New England college campus that has a beautiful central green, both indoor and outdoor rec areas and quick access to shops, restaurants and downtown Brattleboro. They are accredited by The Joint Commission.
