About Blick Clinic

The Blick Clinic in Akron, Ohio has been part of the community for more than 50 years. Located on West Market Street, the clinic offers outpatient substance use treatment alongside a wide range of behavioral health and support services.

One thing that I believe truly sets The Block Center apart is its focus on older adults in addiction treatment. Substance use later in life often looks very different than it does for young people and this program is built with that reality in mind. Instead of treating addiction in isolation, they look at health, mental wellness, daily functioning and long-term stabilization all at once.

How Addiction Treatment Works Here

Addiction services at The Blick Center are mainly outpatient, including an intensive outpatient program for substance abuse. Treatment often includes therapy, behavioral health support, case management and coordination with medical services when needed.

While they do offer residential-style supports like shared living homes and small group homes, these are community-based living supports rather than inpatient addiction or detox programs. They’re designed to help people maintain stability and independence.

A Strong Fit for Dual Diagnosis Needs

I found that the Blick Center regularly services people with co-occurring mental health conditions like depression, anxiety and serious mental illness. They also support people with developmental or intellectual disabilities who are working through substance use concerns which many treatment centers aren’t equipped to serve.

That means with the integrated approach they offer here, you don’t have to bounce between agencies to get help. Behavioral health care, addiction treatment, therapy services and practical support are all offered within the same organization.
