About Better Roads Recovery Ministry

Better Roads Recovery Ministry is a Christ centered residential recovery program in Hammond, Indiana serving men and women from across the country and abroad.

The ministry supports clients struggling with substance abuse and gambling, anger, and other destructive behaviors through counseling and mentoring as well as life skills training and daily Bible based instruction.

Rooted in faith and structure, I noted Better Roads approaches recovery as a journey of spiritual growth, character development, and family restoration.

Faith-Based Residential Addiction Recovery

Better Roads offers a six month structured residential program with separate homes for men and women combining addiction recovery with Christian discipleship.

I discovered the ministry has operated since 1963, originally as the Hammond City Rescue Mission, and integrates the Reformers Unanimous curriculum into its daily program.

Residents participate in daily chapel services and Bible study, personalized mentoring, and life skills training designed to build sobriety and employment readiness with financial responsibility.

The ministry reports that 75 percent of graduates who continue to follow its principles do not return to addiction.

Gender-Specific Recovery Homes

The program provides a 56 bed men's facility and a 10 bed ladies' facility each offering a family style living environment. Amenities include a full kitchen with three daily meals, an exercise and weight room, entertainment space, and a billiard room.

A Friday night addiction program is also open to the public and regularly draws over 100 attendees.
