About The Bergand Group

The Hartford County office of The Bergand Group operates out of a quiet corner of Fallston, Maryland. They treat adults experiencing substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders.

This location offers both intensive and general outpatient programs and medication assisted treatment (MAT) via Suboxone. Outpatient detox is also available. I think it's worth mentioning that they have a virtual option for some outpatient services.

This office also offers certified DUI/DWI classes for those required to take them to get their license back or who are ordered to attend by court order.

The Bergand Group works with most private insurance plans. They also accept Medicaid.

The first thing I'd like to point out about The Bergand Group is that their general outpatient program is designed as a step down from their intensive program. It's not uncommon for a facility to offer both intensive and general outpatient programs, but when they are structured like this treatment is less likely to feel disjointed.

I also like that they use multiple modalities in therapy. These represent the approaches and focuses staff use to address your needs and promote recovery. They all work towards the same goal, but you may find some modalities more effective for your experience than others. I like this mixed approach and how it highlights how we all respond to treatment differently.

Their relapse prevention program meets on Wednesday evenings. I think it’s special that this program utilizes mindfulness to make participants more aware of their triggers and how they respond to them. It's offered throughout treatment to prepare clients for challenges they may face during and after their program. You can expect some overlap between this and your treatment program, but relapse prevention is the sole focus of each session.
