About Awareness and Discovery Newport
Located in Newport, Kentucky, Brighton Recovery Center for Women is a 100 bed addiction treatment facility. They focus on a peer model to help residents move toward sobriety and independence. Women spend nine to 12 months in this program and progress through four stages in their own time. This service is provided free of charge to participants.
Applicants must be at least 18, homeless or low income and want to recover from addiction. The first step is to get women safe off the streets. Brighton Recovery Center gives women a safe, nonmedical space to get off the streets and consider their recovery journey. Next comes the motivational track where women commit to recovery. The next stage focuses on effective solutions to addiction. Women will make goals related to financial independence and social wellness.
The final stage is to help women return to society. Brighton Recovery Center will help residents get work or begin job training or educational programs. They’ll attend self help meetings and begin to pay rent and transition to a sober lifestyle in society. Brighton also offers peer mentors who share their hope and encouragement with women early in recovery.
