About Anne Arundel Counseling

Anne Arundel Counseling in Glen Burnie, Maryland is a full-service counseling center that offers a variety of therapeutic services. Support is available to clients of all ages, for a range of personal issues, mental and behavioral health conditions and more.

Various resources and programs are available here for individuals struggling with substance abuse. First-time and repeat DUI/DWI offenders can access MD state-certified DWI/DUI education or treatment programs here as an essential first step in their recovery journey. Not only that, but participation in these programs is first step in making amends for the offense, and learning the why’s behind your behavior.

As part of the recovery process, licensed staff members will evaluate and diagnose clients’ presenting issues and from there will guide them towards the best course of treatment for their unique situation. While for some this may look like a DUI program, a six week alcohol and drug education group may suffice for others. This is recommended for more casual ‘social drinkers’.

Meanwhile, a 26-week treatment group is also available for those with more serious substance abuse issues. This group meets once per week either during the day or in the evening, Monday through to Saturday. Individual sessions are also available for both educational sessions as well as counseling sessions and personal growth opportunities.

There’s also the 18-hour outpatient weekend intervention program designed to help individuals with a DUI through its structured outpatient schedule. Like this, participants can focus on addiction education as well as increase their awareness of their addictive behaviors and the consequences of substance abuse both for the, and others in their lives. As they work their way through the program they should develop motivation and a greater sense of personal responsibility as they commit fully to change.

The program’s thorough curriculum is guided by proven methods of addiction treatment with emphasis on therapy styles like motivational interviewing (MI) and moral recognition therapy. Clients will also engage in interactive discussion and peer teaching, literature reviews relating to addiction, role play and group work. Guest speakers as well as ample viewing material will also be included.
