About Alexandria Community Services Board
The Alexandria Community Services Board offers mental health and addiction counseling for adult residents of Alexandria, Virginia. Levels of care include short-term residential treatment and intensive and general outpatient programs, as well as medication-assisted treatment (MAT).
Services include a number of programs tailored to meet the needs of those at different stages of addiction. Services are available in multiple languages. Women-only groups are also available. You'll find individual and group options across these programs. Care is available for co-occurring disorders. Priority placement is given to the following populations: pregnant and postpartum women, intravenous drug users and those with HIV. Cost is based on income but some insurance is accepted.
The City of Alexandria offers a comprehensive range of behavioral health and substance abuse services to residents. These are represented by different groups defined by their approach (such as one using The Matrix Model) or their intended audience. Some programs, for example, are for those who feel they are in control of their substance use but are ready to quit. Another group focuses on developing post-recovery skills like relapse prevention and is intended for those who have completed another program.
Of course, there's also a group supporting anyone regardless of where they are in recovery so you're sure to find a space where you belong and feel comfortable. All programs come with individual counseling to ensure your needs are being met.
This program also offers case management support for those who need additional help. Case managers can help you manage your day-to-day tasks and help you secure support from other community resources including assisting you with applications for support programs. The extra help is great if you're new to treatment or in an uneasy situation and are at risk of letting things slip by.
