About Maryland Wellness
Lanham, Maryland, is a suburb of Washington, D.C. that provides a laid back lifestyle while also giving easy access to the metro area. It’s also home to the Maryland Wellness clinic, which offers mental health treatment and a robust Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) to adults and youth.
The clinic accepts Medicaid and has a sliding fee scale. They don’t turn anyone away because they can’t pay. If you have private insurance, feel free to contact them to confirm coverage.
Psychiatric Rehabilitation for Adults and Youth in the D.C. Area
The PRP for adults at Maryland Wellness has a variety of services designed to help you overcome mental health challenges and live independently. PRP counselors supply individual coaching and counseling and help you set personal goals.
The counselors also provide education and support to help you learn valuable life skills, such as financial literacy, social skills and job readiness. They also help you understand physical health needs and set up routines for self care.
I like how the program for youth is similar and includes academic assistance and support for the family in navigating challenges together.
PRP counselors also connect you to additional resources such as therapists, doctors and other community resources so you have a wide base of support.
In Home and Community Based Services
One thing I noticed is that the PRP is flexible in where they deliver services. In-home support is helpful for those with transportation concerns or those who prefer a comfortable and familiar environment. Adults receive visits up to six times a month and youth up to four times a month, allowing them to work on practical skills in an environment they know well.
Community based services are also available from Maryland Wellness. You can meet your PRP counselor in a library, park or other public place. This allows you to practice new skills and engage in your community.

A typical adult program in Maryland offers a private setting for rehabilitation from alcohol or drugs. Treatment often includes group therapy, individual counseling, and family support and may occur in a residential facility or through outpatient care.Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behavioral therapists use multiple exercises during cognitive behavioral therapy in Maryland. A combination of imagery-based exposure, behavioral experiments, and thought records can provide effective treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders.Senior Drug & Alcohol Rehab
Through elderly rehab in Maryland, seniors can find the help they need to overcome addiction. These age-specific rehab programs address substance use disorders, dual diagnosis, and age-related challenges.Teen & Adolescent Program
During crucial developmental years, addiction can cause cognitive impairment, increase risky behavior, and impair social development. A young adult program in Maryland can help individuals learn to make healthy choices and avoid these downfalls of addiction.Levels of Care
