Agape Christian Counseling

Agape Christian Counseling offers a compassionate help with substance use disorders or co-occurring conditions. Rooted in faith and understanding, they walk alongside individuals and families as they journey toward a more meaningful life free from addiction. They’re located on Barkley in Overland Park, Kansas. It's west of Indian Creek Greenway and east of the Overland Park Historical Society.

What makes this facility truly exceptional is that, despite its Christian foundation, it warmly welcomes individuals of all backgrounds. However, I saw you must be comfortable with the inclusion of a Christian faith-based curriculum in each session. Substance use evaluation is conducted on a more neutral and non-religious basis. Their inclusiveness allows them to deliver targeted support to LGBTQ+ community members and people living with HIV/AIDS.

However, their services are more specifically geared toward individuals who are involved in the legal system including juvenile offenders. They don’t accept insurance. It’s also worth noting that services are delivered in English.

Agape Christian Counseling is a state-licensed provider of substance use evaluation, education and outpatient therapy for DUI offenders. Evaluation is a mandatory first step with an emphasis on understanding your unique needs. Both DUI evaluations and self-referral evaluations follow the same approach, but the latter costs slightly more.

Following the evaluation, you’ll collaborate with your provider to create a personalized care plan that aligns with your unique recovery goals and circumstances. This tailored plan involves flexible therapeutic support that inspires resilience, personal growth and the development of effective strategies for relapse prevention.

They primarily use cognitive behavioral techniques to help you identify harmful thought patterns, develop healthier responses and make lasting behavioral changes. I like that they integrate faith-based and biblical teachings to nurture emotional and spiritual growth.
