About Advocates Community Counseling

Advocates Community Counseling is a nonprofit mental health and addiction support center with an office in Marlborough, Massachusetts. This location offers medication assisted treatment (MAT) and general outpatient programs for people of all ages. They have specialized treatment available for marginalized groups like LGBTQ+ and BIPOC, as well as veterans. They offer a virtual option if you find telehealth more appealing. They accept MassHealth Medicaid and private insurance plans. However, if you do not have insurance, they can still help you with a sliding fee scale. Advocates Community Counseling is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

While Advocates Community Counseling provides a range of counseling services (for individuals and families, as well as couples and groups), I want to draw attention to their urgent care services. Regularly scheduled sessions are key to any recovery program, but emergency services can help should you find yourself in crisis in between appointments. Emergency services are designed to get you evaluated the same or the next day. From there, they'll connect you with the services that will help you stabilize and prepare you for your next appointment. You may feel like you don't need these services now, but if an emergency happens you'll be glad they're available.

I also like their mobile crisis intervention services. Again, these are designed to help you through emergency situations. What makes these services unique is that they'll come to you rather than you needing to visit a clinic. They can visit you in your home or school or at various locations throughout the community. As with urgent care, the goal is to get you to a safe and stable place and plot your next steps in the coming days and weeks. It's additional support for the most volatile times, and it's a great tool to have in your recovery.
