About Advantage Behavioral Health Systems
Advantage Behavioral Health Systems’ Women’s Treatment and Recovery Support is a residential program for women affected by substance use disorders in Athens, Georgia. This program equips women with daily skills to manage symptoms and get back on track. They primarily support adult women in recovery and their children from infancy to 13 years of age. They offer a safe and structured living space to manage recovery without distractions.
The facility partners with various agencies like the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and Drug Court to help women who are on or eligible for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). They also assist those in the process of reuniting with their families.
Women working toward reunification with their children can receive help with custody arrangements. They may also have the option to have their children stay with them in the residence during treatment.
You must meet the criteria for ASAM Levels 3.1 to 3.3 and have a substance use diagnosis from a licensed diagnostician to be eligible for services. Their personalized treatment involves individual counseling and group therapy that draws from multiple proven methods.
These include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and motivational interviewing (MI). These models address negative behavioral patterns that encourage bad habits like substance misuse and help you build strong coping skills.
You’ll attend five hours of group sessions five days a week. The sessions cut across process and education groups, family education and aftercare groups. Emphasis is on building recovery support networks, exploring work and leisure activities and developing social and interpersonal skills. These foster relapse prevention and sober living. You’ll have time for self care, independent study and practicing daily living skills after group sessions.
The program incorporates 12-step recovery and wellness education. You’ll also engage in exercise, healthy lifestyle training and recovery management education. The program normally lasts six months. This is enough time to build a strong toolkit for independent living.
You can leverage their transitional housing program to strengthen your independent living skills if eligible. This three to six-month program also teaches you personal responsibility and accountability and reinforces your support network. This prepares you for reintegration into the community.
