About American Behavioral Health Systems – Cozza (Residential Inpatient Services)

Serving Spokane, Washington, American Behavioral Health Systems provides a range of addiction recovery services. Their Spokane location focuses on residential addiction treatment for women. This program provides intensive co-occurring mental health treatment and lasts between 15 and 180 days. Programming focuses on creating a new life without substances.

This treatment program uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, and emotional interviewing to help you heal from addiction. Treatment begins with an in-depth mental health and addiction assessment. Then you’ll receive between five and 20 hours of counseling per week.

Medication assisted treatment (MAT) may be received if it’s appropriate for any of your withdrawal symptoms and drug cravings. This service uses FDA-approved medicines that have been shown to help with addiction recovery. You’ll see a family or psychiatric nurse practitioner once a week to ensure safety and monitor your progress.

Treatment sessions may focus on building new skills and coping mechanisms and creating a sober community. You’ll also have access to fitness facilities and personal training. While living at this facility, you’ll engage in group counseling, psychoeducation, and case management. Discharge planning begins as soon as you enter treatment so you’ll be able to keep up with your recovery when treatment is over. Some additional medication services will be available on site during treatment.

One thing I like about this facility is that they offer services in American Sign Language, as well as spoken English.

People who’ve gone to treatment at American Behavioral Health Systems in Spokane say the program taught them a lot and they loved the homemade food. Another person said they weren’t happy to be court mandated to this program, but once they accepted personal responsibility their life became more manageable.
