About A Brighter Tomorrow Counseling Service

A Brighter Tomorrow Counseling Services (ABT) was a private company that provided drug and alcohol addiction evaluations and treatment services. Their offices could be found north of Kiwanis Park in Lakewood, Washington, placing them within walking distance of many shops, restaurants, and the bus stops on Bridgeport Way. This location was quite advantageous, as a significant part of their mission involved helping individuals facing DUI charges and others needing court mandated treatment. However, they shut down in 2017.

Accessible Outpatient Care

At ABT, they offered a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and outpatient care. As with most PHPs, this track required patients to spend a significant part of each day at their offices, every day of the week. In this setting, I noticed that one could receive hours of individual therapy and counseling, group counseling, and would be given the chance to develop skills.

After completing the PHP and the IOP (which required less time to be spent at their offices, but was still quite structured), you could then lean on their outpatient services as a form of aftercare support.

Surrounded by Excellent Amenities

What I like about ABT’s neighborhood is that the area is full of recovery friendly activities and amenities. Of the various parks and restaurants in the area, the standout local attraction is the Chambers Creek Canyon trail.
