About 7th Fire Counseling
Ottawa, Illinois, has historical significance as the site of the first Lincoln Douglas debate between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas in 1858. Today, the city has a thriving arts scene and sits at the entrance to Starved Rock State Park. Ottawa is also where you’ll find 7th Fire Counseling, which provides DUI assessments and classes along with outpatient addiction treatment for adults.
The clinic accepts self payment. Some of the outpatient treatment services may be covered by insurance.
Outpatient Treatment For DUIs in Ottawa
7th Fire specializes in court ordered services. If you have been charged with a DUI, the state requires an evaluation before sentencing can happen. The evaluation will determine your level of risk to reoffend.
The evaluation looks at your driving record, blood alcohol content (BAC) and the results of an assessment and interview, which would be provided by 7th Fire Counseling. You’ll be placed into one of four risk categories: minimal, moderate, significant or high.
I noticed the lowest category only requires 10 hours of DUI education, while the highest requires 75 hours of substance use treatment and ongoing participation in an aftercare plan when they are done. 7th Fire can administer the evaluation, education and any required treatment services to help you get back on track.
Additional Court Ordered Classes Available
I like that the clinic also provides education and intervention classes for domestic violence, anger management and sex offender charges. These programs require attendance for a specific period of time and include accountability and information about how to manage emotions, healthy coping mechanisms, conflict resolution and other relevant topics.
