About YouthCare of Oklahoma
YouthCare of Oklahoma was a counseling service in Oklahoma City. The center is now closed. They provided services for children aged 4-11 and adolescents 12 to 17. They also had adult services.
YouthCare of Oklahoma provided outpatient addiction and mental health treatment through a variety of programs. They also helped with foster care and no one was turned away because they couldn’t pay.
Mental Health Support in Oklahoma City
The clinic offered multiple mental health treatment options. Beyond the usual individual and group therapy I found that they had play therapy, Parent Child Interaction Therapy, and crisis support.
They also had inpatient step down counseling, which was support for those who had finished an inpatient addiction or mental health program. These step down options are often intensive outpatient treatment programs.
Oklahoma’s “No Wrong Door” policy means that if YouthCare didn’t offer what you needed, they would refer you to a facility that did.
Community Outreach and School Programs
Another thing that impressed me was that the organization had a wide range of community support programs. This includes cooperation with the Department of Probation and Parole as well as Juvenile Affairs.
They also had school programs where youth could get direct support during the school day. Service was available to all students regardless of pay. They provided resources to school staff and protected the safety and confidentiality of the kids.
