Get Active in Recovery
What you do outside of treatment is just as important as what you do in it. Johnston's many recreational areas, like Saylorville Lake, give you ample opportunity to engage with sobriety in fun and healthy ways.
Home Like Comfort in Recovery
There's no place like home, but that doesn't mean drug treatment centers can't get close. Creating a home-like atmosphere is especially important for kids and teens, who are more likely to struggle with staying long term in a new environment.
Residents in this program have access to services to make their stay more comfortable. A big one is recreation. Simply being able to get out and move goes a long way toward feeling more at ease in a new place. There are also food, religion/culture, health, and vocational services to further personalize the experience.
Note that this isn't a traditional residential treatment program. They’re only open to those unable to remain in their home.
Diverse Crisis Care
This facility's crisis program focuses on two key services: crisis intervention and emergency youth shelter. Though they're built with different clientele in mind, the core of what they do is the same: bringing you to safety.
Crisis intervention is a responsive program to help de-escalate an emergency or dangerous situation. It’s a powerful way to help someone facing a crisis and start them on the path toward long term treatment. The shelter is for youth who have left home for a variety of reasons and provides them with support and a safe, secure place to stay when their own home is no longer supportive.
