About Women At the Well Ministries

The Women at the Well, a Christ-centered addiction recovery program located in Athens, Tennessee, is a welcoming place for women who are battling drug or alcohol addiction, depression, anxiety and other co-occurring conditions. This clinic offers a place of refuge where treatment integrates Biblical teachings, discipleship, and life skills development. The goal is to help empower women and build up their relationships with Christ.

One of their core offerings, their New Life program, helps to provide a safe and supportive environment for expecting mothers who are curious to learn how to care for their newborns. I appreciate that they offer this specialty care that isn’t offered at a lot of treatment facilities.

Women at the Well also offers individual counseling, leadership training and education in character development, financial planning, parenting and anger resolution. You’ll also participate in chapel services, mentor groups and community outreach programs. The whole program typically lasts between 12 and 15 months.

Work on Your Recovery and Your Craft

One of my favorite features of Women at the Well is their Made Well sewing program and retreat center. This program started more recently during the pandemic, and it teaches its participants practical skills. It takes place in a calming and therapeutic environment where you can focus on personal reflection and spiritual renewal. They offer cutting tables, rulers, irons, ironing boards, display boards, sewing machines for rent and plenty of space to enjoy your crafting. Plus the retreat center offers a full kitchen, cozy sitting room, nine twin sized beds and 3.5 bathrooms.
