About Wheeler Health – Hartford Family Health and Wellness Center

Wheeler Health Family and Wellness Center, located in Hartford, Connecticut, is a community health facility providing a full continuum of behavioral health and medical care for adults, children, and families. The center offers adult outpatient recovery services, mental health services, care coordination, crisis intervention, and medication-assisted treatment.

The Hartford facility is Wheeler Health’s flagship healthcare center, with a full complement of clinicians, medical assistants, and counselors. The center offers convenient walk-in and appointment hours. Patients with opioid use disorder can access medication-assisted treatment, which involves the use of medications such as Suboxone or methadone, in combination with behavioral counseling, to reduce cravings and the risk of relapse. There are also acupuncture services, an on-site pharmacy, recovery support, and tobacco cessation services.

The center is accredited by The Joint Commission, with their national quality approval. The facilty is also certified as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality provider by the Healthcare Equity Index and recognized by NCQA as a patient-centered medical home. Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance are accepted, with no patient being denied care due to lack of funds.
