About Westmoreland Community Action

Westmoreland Community Action is a nonprofit community organization in Greensburg, Pennsylvania offering recovery support services for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders.

I noticed that the agency provides evidence based family training, recovery focused employment support and recovery friendly workplace resources across Westmoreland County.

I like that their mission driven approach connects people in recovery and their loved ones to practical skills and resources that support long-term wellness and stability.

CRAFT Family Support Program

Westmoreland Community Action's signature offering is CRAFT Community Reinforcement and Family Training, a free support group designed for family members and friends of individuals struggling with addiction.

This evidence based program teaches non confrontational communication strategies, positive reinforcement techniques, problem solving skills and safety planning as an alternative to tough love or waiting for rock bottom.

Sessions focus on empowering loved ones with practical tools to encourage treatment engagement, improve family dynamics, and support their own wellbeing. Participants learn to analyze substance use patterns, apply motivation techniques, and build healthier responses that benefit the entire family system.

Recovery Employment Partnership

The agency also offers recovery focused case management through the Recovery Employment Partnership, a free program serving adults 18 and older in Westmoreland and Fayette Counties.

Staff help individuals in recovery navigate employment barriers, connect to job opportunities and access workplace support.

The program is funded by the PA Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs and includes recovery friendly workplace training for employers.
