About WestCare

WestCare Adolescent Services is an outpatient treatment facility geared specifically for adolescents that is located in Hanford, California. While you can access in person services, I do appreciate that there are also telemedicine options to provide more flexible access.

Flexible Treatment Options

In particular, I appreciated that WestCare offers a range of counseling approaches to help young people overcome substance use disorders (SUD) and refocus their lives. This facility uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, the Matrix Model, and relapse prevention. For many people, trauma often triggers addiction, which is why I like that WestCare leverages trauma focused counseling and anger management treatment.

There is also incentive based counseling as well as substance use counseling to educate participants on the danger of using illicit substances. Of course, members will have access to individual, group, and family counseling sessions.

There are also tobacco cessation counseling options. Services are provided on an outpatient basis with the option for telemedicine for more flexible scheduling.

Comprehensive Case Management Support

To really maintain sobriety, people need support for what comes next after an outpatient program is finished. WestCare understands this which is why they have a comprehensive case management network.

Aftercare includes assistance with social skills training, providing access to resources to help continue counseling after the program, and even connecting participants with peer mentoring to help provide an accountability network.

I appreciated that this program is for children between the ages of 12 and 17 and that the programs are offered in English, Spanish and even in sign language to enhance accessibility. WestCare is entirely funded through government programs so there are no direct payments required by the clients. This facility also accepts Medicaid.

Benefits include a higher staff-to-client ratio, increased one-on-one time with therapists and healthcare providers, private rooms for clients, and customized forms of therapy.

Private Rooms

In order to maintain a sense of autonomy, many private rehab facilities offer clients the ability to choose their own private rooms. The privacy and personal space ensure that the recovery process is as comfortable as possible.

Residential Setting

Residential drug rehab provides the comforts of home with the therapeutic support needed to successfully recover. Benefits of an inpatient program include increased safety, a higher success rate, and the time and distance given to focus on recovery. Residential drug rehabs are often the preferred method of treatment, as they can be tailored to meet specific needs, offer focused therapeutic care, and provide the necessary tools to sustain recovery.
