About WestCare Cook County Jail IMPACT Program

WestCare Cook County Jail IMPACT Program is a substance use disorder (SUD) transitional program designed for individuals in active addiction as well as those in recovery. It’s located in Chicago, Illinois. It offers a range of inpatient and outpatient programs including detox support. Residential housing is also available to help provide a safe place for people to continue their sobriety journey.

Detox and Residential Treatment

Getting sober is the most crucial step in the sobriety journey. Thankfully, the IMPACT program includes a medication assisted treatment (MAT) program that allows participants to safely detox without risking more harmful withdrawal side effects and derailing their recovery. Additionally, while you’re undergoing detox treatment, I found you can still participate in the residential program or outpatient care depending on the severity of your addiction.

Graduated Outpatient Support

IMPACT offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) as well as traditional outpatient care for people focused on their sobriety. The IOP focuses on structured classes multiple times a week which can include individual and group counseling as well as family therapy and skills building courses to help you maintain your independence once you complete the program. You can also take advantage of dual diagnosis care.

Sober Living Facilities

If you choose to participate in the residential program, your next step after completion would be to continue with outpatient care. However, if you don’t have a place that’s substance-free, IMPACT’s sober living facilities can help you maintain sobriety while you continue outpatient treatment. Located across Chicago’s rich city life, this gives you an opportunity to adjust to regular life in a safe environment.

Specialty Care

Another core feature I liked with IMPACT’s program is support for special populations. For example there is a family program which works to provide family services for incarcerated men with minor children. Likewise, there are aftercare programs to help formerly incarcerated individuals. IMPACT accepts insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, Tricare, and offers a sliding scale and financial aid.
