About Weems Children and Youth Services

The Weems Community Mental Health Center for Children and Youth Services in Meridian, Mississippi is one of a few of their support locations. This DMH certified nonprofit facility specializes in mental and behavioral health services including addiction treatment for young people and their families.

Certified by Missouri’s Department for Mental Health, clients can rest assured that the center is tightly controlled and must abide by procedures outlined by DMH official standards. They also have safeguarding initiatives in place to ensure all programs operate in an ethical, moral, legal and professional manner.

Clients at this center can access a range of outpatient programs and services including nursing and psychiatric services, mental health counseling for kids and teens, psychological testing, a teen offender program and a community resource library. For children with more severe mental or behavioral issues, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) or day program is also available.

IOP addiction treatment for kids and teens operates similarly to the adult program and takes place across 10 weeks. Its structured schedule provides consistency in the form of three group meetings per week with individual counseling sessions included.

Group therapy provides participants with an element of peer support and accountability within a safe and facilitated environment. In this way they can benefit from the insights of those around them and learn to open up if this is something they struggle with. Parent and family involvement is also an important part of this program with parent education sessions included.
