About New Rock Day Treatment

Located in north central Georgia, View Point Health’s New Rock site is based in Covington and is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. They’re a public community behavioral health center providing care for individuals with co-occurring mental and substance use disorders. They serve adults and children, including people with serious mental illness, court ordered participants, military personnel and those who have experienced trauma.

Flexible Care for Youth and Adults

They offer outpatient services that include individual, group and family counseling along with medication management. Evidence based practices are used to help build better relationships, manage anger and improve problem solving skills. Their Addictive Diseases Program is designed to support employment stability and teach life skills that support independent living.

Community based residential programs focus on personal recovery through peer support services. For youths, I like that they provide short term residential stabilization for ages 14 to 17 and outpatient mental health care for those ages five to 21. They use the Seven Challenges Clubhouse model to help adolescents work through substance use in a structured and supportive setting.

Sliding Fee Scale and Insurances Accepted

Since military personnel are one of the populations they serve, they accept TRICARE and funds from the US Department of Veterans Affairs. They also accept Medicare, Medicaid, and other state financed health plans. If you need assistance, a sliding fee scale is offered based on income.

Grounded in Evidence and Family Support

There is a strong focus on families, and they work closely with child serving agencies to support families and make sure they are both part of the healing process. Peer support services are included to help guide a more personal, self directed path. If your condition is acute, they can refer you to their inpatient GRAN Recovery Center.

The Hollywood of the South

Covington is known as a film town, and has served as the location for many television shows and movies. I like the Mystic Falls Tour to visit landmarks from The Vampire Diaries, or you can hop the Main Street Trolleys to hear stories and get exclusive views from iconic film locations.

If you’re into the paranormal, take the Covington Ghost Tour to experience the spooky side of town. There are a few self guided tours if you’d rather do things at your own pace. Downtown also has antique stores, boutiques and restaurants you can visit during your downtime. These attractions can help form new interests and healthy outlets for stress.
