About Mt Rogers ASAP
The Alcohol Safety Action Program or VASAP is a statewide substance use intervention initiative by the Virginia state government that addresses impaired driving. There are 24 ASAPs spread across the Commonwealth of Virginia, including this one at 730 South View Drive in Marion. ASAP is geared towards promoting permanent change in behavior among DUI offenders with varying risk levels. This is achieved through comprehensive substance use evaluation, treatment intervention and education and case management. ASAP is overseen and maintained by the Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program or VASAP.
Comprehensive Substance Use and Driving Safety Programs
You’re mandated by the Code of Virginia to enroll in and complete ASAPs when convicted of DUI or other alcohol related reckless charges. This enrollment must happen within 15 days of conviction, or a penalty may appl,y which varies according to courts. People with older convictions can also enroll in this program to meet pending requirements for obtaining their driver’s license. ASAPs serve as a liaison between you and the court by providing probationary oversight and monitoring.
You’ll be assigned to a case manager during intake who’ll use screening criteria to classify you to the appropriate level of intervention for your unique condition. This encompasses multiple offender evaluation, treatment education and reckless or aggressive driver classes. They also offer suspended driving intervention interviews, young offenders programs and individual driver improvement. These programs reduce repeat offenses, improve driving behavior and help you regain your driving privileges safely. Class attendance is mandatory during each program.
Help With Case Management
Reporting is provided to the court and Department of Motor Vehicle or DMV in accordance with program guidelines, and you’re awarded certification upon completion. Your case manager will also help you understand and meet all the conditions of your participation agreement and probation. This includes things like installing an ignition interlock device if required.
The great thing about this program is that you can pre-enroll prior to being convicted, and they offer out-of-state enrollment. You may potentially be allowed to drink during the program except as mandated by the court.
