About Healthy Minds – Lewis County

United Summit Center Healthy Minds Lewis County is located on Elizabeth Street in Weston, West Virginia. They offer outpatient behavioral health services for mental health and drug and alcohol addiction. They are located in a standalone facility, with plenty of onsite parking close to Route 119.

They are also close to several restaurants and businesses and are in a largely rural community. I think it’s great that they are also close to the several natural landmarks including the Stonecoal Lake Wildlife Management Area, the Monongahela National Forest and the Burnsville Lake Wildlife Management Area.

Telehealth and In Person Outpatient Support

Services at Healthy Minds are available through telehealth services or in-person. Outpatient care through this clinic includes one-on-one counseling to address your substance use disorder and counseling to work through and address your mental health issues, focusing on past traumas in a group discussion setting among your peers.

Services for Court-Mandated Referral Programs

They also provide motivational interviewing and anger management therapy to work through other behaviors that may have surfaced and become a potential issue, while experiencing addiction. Additionally, they work with court-mandated programs for DUI/DWI convictions to ensure you receive the mandated education, therapy and treatment while in their care.

Walk-In Psychiatric Emergency Services

This treatment center offers behavioral health services to young adults, adults and seniors and provides psychoeducation to families and clients. I like that they also provide crisis care for those with serious mental illnesses or serious emotional disturbances, or those who just need immediate help to address their co-occurring issues. Their walk-in psychiatric emergency services will first assess your current mental and physical health to determine what level of emergency treatment you may require.

Amenities

Residential Setting

Residential drug rehab provides the comforts of home with the therapeutic support needed to successfully recover. Benefits of an inpatient program include increased safety, a higher success rate, and the time and distance given to focus on recovery. Residential drug rehabs are often the preferred method of treatment, as they can be tailored to meet specific needs, offer focused therapeutic care, and provide the necessary tools to sustain recovery.

Addiction Treatment Programs

Adult Program

Adults aged 18 and older can find help for substance use disorders at an adult program in West Virginia. These programs offer support for addiction-related issues and co-occurring mental health concerns.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an integrative, community-based care strategy designed to address the needs of persons with severe and/or complex mental illness or behavioral disorders. ACT is typically provided by a multidisciplinary team of medical and mental health care providers, social workers, therapists, and other specialists, including addiction recovery professionals. These services are frequently provided in the home and community to clients in crisis, those who are clinically unstable, and those who are unable or unwilling to travel to a hospital or clinic for in-person treatment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

In West Virginia, cognitive behavioral therapy includes skills training, behavioral strategies, and psychoeducation. Treatment strategies include social supports, learning effective communication skills, setting goals, and altering thought patterns to avoid triggers.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR Therapy is a neurobiological treatment modality used to address trauma disorders and related mental and behavioral health challenges. Short for eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, EMDR is designed to help clients cope with distressing memories and emotions, including fear, sadness, and anger. EMDR may help clients in addiction recovery manage the psychological and emotional triggers that contribute to substance misuse and/or addiction relapse.
