UNC Health Johnston is a hospital based behavioral health provider in Smithfield, North Carolina offering inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance use services.

Substance Use and Addiction Recovery

The IOP offers group therapy and individual counseling multiple times per week, incorporating relapse prevention education, coping skills development and stress management.

I want to note that sessions are designed to address the underlying drivers of addiction while helping patients build healthy, sustainable routines in recovery.

Inpatient Psychiatric

For individuals in acute crisis, UNC Health Johnston operates an inpatient behavioral health unit staffed by physicians trained in both mental health and substance use diagnoses.

Inpatient care includes short term crisis management, medication management and group therapy with telepsychiatry, ECT and TMS available to support complex needs.

Services are provided in person at 509 N. Brightleaf Boulevard in Smithfield, with telepsychiatry options extending care across the region.

UNC Health Johnston works with patients on billing questions and offers a Financial Assistance Program through dedicated Patient Financial Counselors.
