About Wake Recovery Response Center
Raleigh, North Carolina is a city full of interesting museums and historical sites, many of which are free to visit. It’s a hub for technology research too and has a thriving live music scene. Raleigh is also home to the Wake Recovery Response Center, formerly known as the UNC Health Care Addiction Treatment Center at WakeBrook.
The Wake Recovery Response Center provides cost free stabilization for mental health or substance use crises, including a soon to open medical detox unit. The facility is funded by local managed care organizations, so there is no charge for patients.
Free Stabilization Services in Wake County
Getting help from the Wake Recovery Response Center is simple. They accept walk ins, first responder drop offs and referrals 24/7.
Current services at the Center include triage, assessments and up to 23 hours of immediate care. After that timeframe they transfer you to an appropriate facility for additional treatment if needed, such as the WakeMed residential treatment center across the parking lot.
Other services at the Center include peer support, referrals to services for basic needs like housing and food, and medication support. I appreciate that they can connect you with the right care no matter where you are in your recovery.
Renovations are Bringing Additional Services to the Center
I’m glad to see that there are two new units in the works at the Recovery Response Center. One is a medical detox unit and the other is a “Living Room Unit” for those who don’t need detox. Each unit will house 16 people and will provide three to five days of treatment and stabilization.
Having these additional units operational will provide more comprehensive crisis support for residents of Wake County at the WakeBrook campus, especially with an easy transition to residential treatment available on the same campus.
