About Turning Point Home
Turning Point Home is a women focused residential addiction treatment center in San Diego, California offering ASAM 3.1 and 3.5 levels of care for substance use disorders.
Since 1970, the program has provided structured, evidence based treatment rooted in a Social Model philosophy, blending group and individual counseling, 12 step participation and trauma informed care exclusively for women. Clients benefit from a tight knit recovery community, peer support and a continuum that extends to sober living at The 10th Step House.
What programs do they offer?
The center provides residential treatment with around the clock support, including weekly individual counseling with a substance use disorder counselor and daily group therapy covering relapse prevention and healthy relationships, disease model education and interactive journaling.
After completing residential care, women can transition to The 10th Step House, a self governed sober living residence that supports continued recovery without formal clinical services.
Who can get help here?
The program serves women of all backgrounds recovering from alcoholism and other substance use disorders including those with co-occurring addictions. I think it's noteworthy that Turning Point Home welcomes women regardless of race or age, disability or religion, sexual orientation or ability to pay.
Where is the facility located?
Turning Point Home is located at 1315 25th Street in San Diego's Golden Hill neighborhood, on the edge of Golden Hill Park. Shared rooms include individual beds and dressers, nightstands and closet space for one to three women per room.
Does the program accept Medi Cal?
Yes, I want to note that Turning Point Home is a Drug Medi Cal provider and contracts with San Diego County Behavioral Health Services. The program does not turn anyone away for lack of financial resources and offers support for self pay clients as well.
You can reach out to Turning Point Home for an assessment to determine medical necessity. If no beds are immediately available, staff can help with referrals and support to connect you with other programs.
Amenities
Residential drug rehab provides the comforts of home with the therapeutic support needed to successfully recover. Benefits of an inpatient program include increased safety, a higher success rate, and the time and distance given to focus on recovery. Residential drug rehabs are often the preferred method of treatment, as they can be tailored to meet specific needs, offer focused therapeutic care, and provide the necessary tools to sustain recovery.
Yoga and meditation are great activities to support your recovery process during alcohol or drug rehab. These therapies have been around for centuries, and they are an effective way to improve well-being. Combining addiction treatment, yoga, and meditation can reduce cravings, improve sleep, relieve anxiety and depression, provide stress relief, promote relaxation, support emotional healing, and improve energy levels.
Art and music are mediums that connect with our feelings, making them a great recovery tool during addiction treatment. Studies show that combining art/music and drug rehab can have a greater therapeutic impact than drug rehab alone, as you’re able to access parts of your brain and body that you may not have access to during traditional talk therapy. Benefits of art/music therapy include lowering stress and anxiety, promoting healthy neurochemicals, and providing stress relief.
