About Turning Point Foundation

Turning Point is a residential facility for men struggling with substance use disorder in Thorsby, Alabama. The facility uses an immersive 12 Step approach combined with Christ's teachings. These tracts allow clients to grow emotionally and spiritually on their journeys towards sobriety.

On a typical day, you’ll engage in counseling, church services, recovery meetings, and inspirational talks from guest speakers. You’re also assigned chores to reinforce structure and responsibility. It’s great that equine therapy is available because horses are comforting and are not judgmental. This makes your steed an excellent therapy companion as you both ride to recovery together.

It’s great that team-building and recreational activities play a huge role in their recovery program. Their setting gives a sense of community that’s beneficial in recovery. You can go white water rafting, compete in paintball teams, and play team sports like volleyball and pickleball. By working and playing with the other guys, you'll build a network of support that will sustain you through the ups and downs of recovery.

One of the unique aspects of the program is getting the opportunity to work directly with your peers. Each client has a peer who acts as a coach to guide them through recovery and helps them reconcile their relationship with themselves, others, and God.
