About NSO Homeless Recovery Services

NSO Homeless Recovery Services is based in Detroit, Michigan. This agency delivers behavioral health and addiction services to people of all ages, with special programs in place to help unhoused individuals. Programs include an inpatient program and general outpatient programs. Medical services in their clinic are open to the general public. Additional homeless services include emergency shelter and permanent housing solutions. NSO has multiple apartments available for those in need. NSO offers ongoing support for individuals in these programs through case management and wraparound services. Their clinic and post hospitalization program accepts most major insurance plans.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the homeless population experiences addiction at a higher rate than those with stable housing. This additional risk factor means that effective treatment requires another factor: stable housing. NSO incorporates shelter and housing services into treatment to strengthen recovery support and help you maintain sobriety. They maintain over 150 apartments in addition to other housing units in their Supportive Housing program.

Additionally, they offer a 17 bed unit for those leaving hospitalization but seeking additional care. NSO offers integrated behavioral and primary care services here and in their outpatient clinic, which is open to the public.

You can also be assigned a case manager to help you manage your daily tasks while in the program. A case manager can act as your personal advocate and help you get the support you need from both NSO and outside resources.

If you're looking into the Homeless Recovery Services, you may find their job readiness program interesting. While getting stable housing can help your situation tremendously, it's only one piece of living a safe, independent life. Employment is a big factor in supporting yourself. NSO will work to remove barriers to your employment by helping you prepare for work. This may include helping build new or existing skills and resumes. It's nice to know that their support doesn't end with treatment and housing.
