Highlands County Outpatient Clinic is located in Avon Park, Florida. They’re one of the many Tri-County Human Services locations. You can access substance use and mental health treatment for adults, adolescents and families.

They believe in treating every individual with respect and meeting you where you are in recovery. You can participate in comprehensive outpatient services as well as DUI programs.

Facilitating Healing with Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

A great thing I noticed about them is that you can receive MAT. After completing an assessment, their dedicated team will determine if you’re a candidate for Suboxone, an FDA approved medication.

They complement care with counseling services to help you get to the root of addiction. I think it’s valuable that they offer a number of other services, like specialized tracks for pregnant and postpartum women, case management, psychiatric care and education groups.

DUI Programs to Make Safer Choices

Another beneficial feature I noticed was their DUI services. If you’re facing a DUI charge, you’ll have multiple programs to choose from in partnership with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). Their DUI tracks offer substance use evaluations, as well as Level I and II classes to help get you back on the road safely.

There’s also a substance use and traffic education course. This four hour class can be completed virtually or in person to meet Florida’s standards for traffic law and substance use education requirements.

There are walking trails, a boardwalk and chances to see a plethora of wildlife. I think this can be a great way to find a respite in nature while promoting recovery.
