About TK – PHP & IOP for Women
Timberline Knolls’ partial hospitalization program offered comprehensive, gender specific day treatment for women and adolescent girls recovering from substance use, eating disorders, trauma and co-occurring mental health conditions. Unfortunately, after nearly 20 years, they have now closed.
Comprehensive Outpatient Care for Women and Girls
The PHP provided structured day treatment, allowing clients to return home or to supportive housing in the evening. Timberline Knolls integrated trauma informed, evidence based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and family therapy. Clients engaged in individualized, group and experiential sessions focusing on relapse prevention, life management and emotional regulation.
The program served girls and women aged 12 and older, including adult women and adolescent girls. I noticed that it was ideal for those stepping down from residential treatment or seeking a structured alternative to inpatient care. Specialized support addressed addiction, eating disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety and co-occurring conditions.
A Holistic Approach to Recovery
Clients and families frequently praised Timberline Knolls’ compassionate clinicians and nurturing environment. Reviews highlight the center’s holistic approach to treating addiction and underlying mental health challenges, as well as the sense of safety and empowerment the program provided.
Clinicians emphasized individualized treatment and trauma informed care, noting that healing the “whole person” requires collaboration, trust and empowerment throughout recovery.
Most major health insurance plans were accepted here. The admissions team would assist families with insurance verification and flexible financial planning.
A Serene Setting for Recovery
Located in a peaceful medical campus, Timberline Knolls offered modern therapy spaces, private counseling rooms and holistic amenities. I was glad to see that the day program environment encouraged real world application of recovery skills.
The multidisciplinary team included licensed therapists, nurses, psychiatrists, dietitians and addiction specialists. Family involvement, discharge planning and aftercare coordination were prioritized to promote sustainable recovery and community support.

Levels of Care
The first step toward a drug-free future is typically detox. This initial phase of drug rehab in Illinois can last up to a week. During this time, addictive substances are slowly and safely cleansed from your body.
Inpatient rehab in Illinois features intensive clinical supervision and a highly structured and supportive environment, meaning this level of care is especially well suited for clients just beginning their recovery journey and those at risk of relapse.
Partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) in Illinois are often a good fit for those who have work or family obligations that would otherwise exclude them from participating in an inpatient program. PHPs typically require an average treatment commitment of five to seven onsite visits a week, each ranging from four to eight hours in length.
Outpatient rehab in Illinois may be brief or long-term, depending on the individual. During this time, you will maintain membership in a support group as well as attend one-on-one counseling sessions. The focus is ongoing development of life skills that will prevent relapse.
Aftercare rehab in Illinois lowers the chance of relapse. This program offers support to help you face challenges after you successfully complete rehab. By providing guidance, accountability, and assistance with basic life skills, aftercare gives you confidence to navigate temptations and maintain sobriety.
An Illinois dual diagnosis program treats both your mental health and recovery needs. Psychiatrists and addiction specialists work together to address co-occurring disorders, such as depression, anxiety, or ADHD.
