About Thrive Counseling Center

Thrive Counselling Center is a nonprofit near downtown Oak Park, Illinois. They have offered comprehensive, compassionate mental health care for people in the greater Chicago area since 1898. They’re open weekdays and Saturdays.

They take Medicare and Medicaid and offer a sliding scale for people who don’t have insurance and can’t afford to pay full price. Although some programs are only open to adults, they also treat kids and teens.

Diverse, Culturally Competent and Trauma Informed Staff

The greater Chicago population is wonderfully diverse, so it’s fantastic that Thrive Counselling Center’s team reflects that with staff from various backgrounds. I also really appreciate that they have a designated trauma clinic. Trauma often goes hand in hand with substance use disorder and other mental illnesses and can require specialized treatment, so it’s excellent that their team is equipped to address this need.

Comprehensive Support at Every Step

If addiction has affected other facets of your life, like work and housing, the multidisciplinary team at Thrive Counselling Center can help you access community resources to address these challenges while you’re in alcohol or drug rehab, including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). They can even help you with legal concerns and life skills development.

I think that speaks to their commitment to helping people achieve lasting recovery and complete wellbeing, since significant life stressors can be a major trigger for relapse. It seems like this organization genuinely cares about patients and wants to go the extra mile to support them in every way possible.
