The Way Up Rehabilitation in Gainesville, Georgia, is a long term residential facility for men seeking help for alcohol and substance use. In operation for over 25 years, their focus is on the three Rs of Recovery, Responsibility, and Respect. To be eligible for their program you must be able to work full time and not hold a conviction as a sex offender or violent criminal. You must also not be on any medications.

Phase One Requirements and Expectations

Based on the 12 Steps, their program consists of three phases. Phase one is meant to help residents transition into treatment, and clients are given a five day grace period to familiarize themselves with the rules of the facility. During this phase, residents must find a job and a sponsor. Once accustomed to the program, every resident must serve five weeks as house manager to prepare them for phase two.

Phases Two and Three

In phase two residents are given more responsibility and are expected to take on a leadership role. They assist phase one residents in adjusting to the program and are given opportunities to become better decision makers. Phase three is about reintegrating residents back into society. I like that they’re given more freedom and responsibility to make their own decisions and are expected to act as models for phase one and two residents.
