About The Way Back Inn

The Way Back Inn is an extended residential care home in Oak Park, Illinois for those who identify as adult females who are experiencing addiction, co-occurring mental health issues and gambling disorders. The average treatment length is 90 days, though I like the fact that you may stay on for up to a year if needed. Outpatient and intensive outpatient services are also available for adult men and women.

You’ll become part of a recovery community that shares home-cooked family style meals and gets together for group therapy. While staying in the house, you’ll be in a safe environment to work on your recovery. To do this, you’ll meet with a counselor for individual therapy sessions. You’ll also have sessions with the other women in the house. They host 12 step meetings and other group sessions that create a supportive environment.

Building Productive Living Habits in the Chicago Suburbs

An aspect of their treatment that I appreciate is their focus on building productive life habits. Addiction often takes away useful daily structure. Here you’ll have chores, daily community meetings and group therapy.

Some of your group sessions will lay the foundations for reconciliation with family members and loved ones. You’ll work on rebuilding your physical health and strength. Living together allows you to connect socially and develop friendships.

Extended Recovery Programs

Once you’ve completed your treatment program, you may be ready to reintegrate back into your home and community. If you need a little more time in a slightly less structured but still supportive environment, you can step down to one of their independent and semi-independent living homes. There, you’ll have continued access to peer support as you learn to live and thrive in your own home and your new sober lifestyle..
