About Oaks Behavioral Health Center
The Oaks Behavioral Health Center was founded in 1974 and is part of KI BOIS Community Action Partnership. The Center provides a variety of substance use treatment services to all ages, including outpatient treatment for adults at the Poteau, Oklahoma location. They also have DUI classes and services for veterans.
The Center accepts Medicaid coverage and also has a sliding fee scale for those who qualify. No one is turned away because they can’t afford services.
Outpatient Addiction Treatment in Eastern Oklahoma
The Oaks can provide substance use assessments and evidence based counseling, including individual and group therapy. The Center can also address co occurring mental health concerns. They have other locations in other cities that provide residential substance use treatment, so they can refer you to one of those locations if you residential rehab is a better fit for you.
I noticed they also have DUI classes available and offer 10 hour and 24 hour courses. This can be helpful for those getting back on their feet after a DUI conviction.
Supportive Services for Veterans
The Oaks is also a Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) center authorized through the VA. They provide a variety of care to low income vets and their families, including housing services, help with health care and daily living support, transportation, child care, legal help and more.
Additional Social Services
I was also impressed by the services available in the community that can support those in recovery. The staff at The Oaks can connect you to case management services, access to prescription medications, food programs and rental assistance.
There is also help available with filing income taxes, and there’s a program for adults aged 60 and older who want to be foster grandparents to children with special needs.
