About The House of Extra Measures 23rd Street MAT House for Men

23rd Street MAT House for Men, operated by The House of Extra Measures, is a residential facility for adult men in Houston, Texas. They admit individuals who are 18 years or older, test drug and alcohol free, and have a sincere desire for recovery. The staff members will conduct an interview to determine if the house is an appropriate treatment option for you.

A great thing about this house’s location is it’s close to downtown Houston and right near multiple Metro Bus lines. There are also parks, jogging trails and 12 Step recovery meetings close by.

The facility aims to create a living situation that’s a mixture of inpatient treatment and independent living. On weekdays, your daily schedule will begin with morning meditation. It’s an activity that can help manage your stress and help you to feel less inclined to use substances.

Additional activities that will be a part of your day are volunteering, working, and recovery meetings. Your recovery meetings will be a chance for you to connect with your peers and receive support as you continue to maintain your sobriety. At the end of the day, you’ll enjoy a resident prepared dinner before having an evening wrap up.

I like that Goals Coaching will be available to clients to make sure they continue to attain their recovery goals. I also find it helpful that there are no minimum and maximum lengths of stay. It allows you to get as much support as you need to achieve emotional, spiritual and financial stability to live independently.

Some of the amenities at this location include WiFi, computers, and large screen TVs. There’s also a piano and comfy furniture to encourage fellowship.
