About The Guidance Center Outpatient Office

The Guidance Center Outpatient Office is a mental health and substance use disorder counseling facility in Flagstaff, Arizona. You’ll get part time treatment that allows you to be at home in the evenings. This is ideal if you have a supportive home environment, or have a family to look after. If you need more intense treatment, they can refer you to their live in facility.

Your treatment will be based on a Matrix group therapy model. They’ll use different types of therapy depending on your needs. This happens within a structured treatment setup. You’ll work through various methods of recovery. Each method gives you different tools and strategies.

You’ll meet with a counselor one on one to help you get a better understanding of your addictive behaviors. They’ll work with you to recognize where your addiction started and how to dismantle the hold it has on you. You’ll use practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy to change the way you think. Another commonly used method is acceptance and commitment therapy.

You can join other groups to support your recovery. These cover topics such as skills, wellness and dual diagnosis. Others, such as meditation and exercise, help reduce stress and boost your sense of well-being. It’s easier to make good choices when you feel physically healthy and mentally strong.

Other groups on offer are art and writing. Expressing yourself creatively can help you work through emotions that may seem too difficult to talk about. Art and writing allow your mind and heart to flow freely and can unlock things that you’ve been unable to open up about.
