The Foundry Ministries Women’s Recovery Center is a faith based residential recovery facility for adult women struggling with substance use issues in Bessemer, Alabama. This program helps residents lay a solid background for lasting recovery using biblical principles. The facility offers a structured, safe and Christian oriented environment where you can find balance in God as you navigate recovery. The program is particularly suitable if you’ve completed detox or inpatient care since the goal here is to teach you independent living skills that support lasting sobriety in the community. They’ll refer you to a detox or inpatient treatment facility to complete that aspect of recovery if assessment indicates the need for that level of care.
Daily Life at Foundry Ministries
You’ll attend bible classes, daily devotions/prayer sessions and spiritual programs while living onsite. This helps you strengthen your personal relationship with God and find peace and purpose in recovery. You’ll also attend tailored counseling sessions to gain practical life skills helpful in managing everyday life challenges while avoiding relapse.
An aspect of their programming that stands out to me is their education and employment readiness training to help you gain self-confidence and build job skills that support independent living. Gaining job readiness skills is particularly essential as it prepares you to reenter the workforce immediately after graduation. Stable employment promotes routine and financial independence that can benefit your recovery efforts.
The program lasts nine months with a six-month mandatory stay. You can choose to remain on campus through graduation or go home to complete the program after six months. You must seek full employment if you choose to stay on campus. I appreciate that they’ll link you to social support services within the community via case management as you move forward in your recovery. This may include housing, medical care and transportation services. This fosters stability as you adapt to a sober lifestyle. They also provide ongoing support.
