About The Counseling Center at Toms River

Serving the community of Toms River, New Jersey, The Counseling Center offers outpatient mental health and addiction treatment for adults. Here, you’ll find outpatient counseling, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), and intensive outpatient care (IOP). Medication assisted therapy (MAT) may be used to treat physical symptoms and cravings. Spravato treatment is available for depression at this location.

If you choose to enroll in the intensive outpatient program, you’ll participate in three group therapy sessions and one individual therapy session per week. During sessions, you’ll learn healthy coping strategies, receive peer support, and make progress toward your recovery goals. You’ll also engage in medication management and learn about addiction triggers. IOP sessions are offered during the day and the evenings to accommodate a variety of schedules.

The partial hospitalization program offers a bit more structure with five days a week of treatment for five hours at a time. Sessions are a combination of group and individual counseling. When you meet in a group there will never be more than 15 people. You’ll cover topics like life skills, communication, conflict resolution, and how to improve personal relationships.
