About The Boaz House

The Boaz House is a faith based, live-in drug and alcohol rehab for women in Brookshire, Texas. Brookshire is a warm ranching and farming community. At Boaz House, you’ll cultivate a new way of living through their program that lasts six months.

You’ll recover in a substance free home setting that provides structure to help you gain the skills you need to live a sober, happy life. As part of a peer group, you get the emotional, social and practical support you need to turn your life around.

As part of your recovery, you’ll work on fundraising projects to subsidize your stay. By doing this, you’ll learn new skills that you’ll take with you when you transition back to your home and community.

During the first phase of your recovery, you’ll meet with a counselor individually, be part of group sessions and work through the 12 Steps. The second phase focuses on deeper healing. You’ll also learn leadership skills and begin supporting others in the program.

The next two stages are optional. At the end of the six months, you can choose to stay on for another 3 months as a graduate. You’ll get a job and pay rent. This extra time is good if you’re not quite ready to go it alone. You’ll be able to stay on for up to two years.

What I appreciate about them is that they’ve created a diverse community that is culturally, ethnically and racially diverse. The community itself is part of the healing process as the women grow close and love each other back to life. There are churches nearby and the Brookshire Pattison Library isn’t too far away. Many continue their recovery journey with lifelong friendships from their time here.
