About Texas Panhandle Centers Behavioral & Developmental Health

The Texas Panhandle Center or TPC in Hereford, Texas offers outpatient services to maintain sobriety or to prevent substance use. While TPC has a variety of facilities, this particular location is one of their behavioral health centers. They are certified by the Texas Health and Human Services, Texas Veterans Commission, and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

Accessible Counseling and Psychiatry Addiction Treatment

Adults are eligible to receive addiction education, counseling, peer support and interventions in relation to substance use. Services are available in English or Spanish in person or virtually through telehealth.

Telehealth and telemedicine are available for psychiatric evaluations, medication management, crisis evaluations, intake evaluations, counseling and other medical services. This allows you to access services even if you don’t have transportation or can’t reach the facility in person for other reasons. Clients are treated using person centered, trauma informed, and recovery oriented therapies.

Referrals for Intensive Treatment

This behavioral health center focuses on outpatient services. For residents of Texas who are uninsured and may need detox, residential treatment, or intensive outpatient substance use treatment, you can schedule an OSAR (Outreach Screening and Referral) appointment. Screening and assessment will determine what type of treatment you need and the center will refer you to a local facility for the treatment.

Services for At Risk Parents

A notable program I saw at this facility is PADRE or Parenting Awareness and Drug Risk Education. It’s available to expectant parents or parents who have a child that is six years or younger. Screening will determine eligibility for the parents based on risk factors for substance use disorder. We believe this program can prevent parents from developing addiction or relapsing and spare children from the trauma of living in a home affected by addiction.

Crisis Response and Stabilization

A mobile crisis outreach team is activated by eligible calls to the 24 hour crisis hotline. The team responds to you when you need them and works with you to develop a safety plan. A crisis respite area is a 24 hour voluntary facility where the individual in crisis may agree to stay until stabilized.

Co Occurring Disorder Housing Assistance

We have seen that many people with addiction become homeless. The center can help you through their PATH (Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness) program. If you are suffering from mental illness or co occurring disorders and you are homeless or at risk for being homeless, you are eligible for the PATH program.
