About TASL Clinic – Closed

TASL Clinic was an outpatient addiction treatment program designed for adults of all ages in Blacksburg, Virginia. I appreciated that this facility takes a therapeutic approach to treatment and works to provide comprehensive mental health assessments while also providing essential community outreach.

Outpatient Care When You Need It

For many people, an inpatient program is impractical since it requires extended time away from loved ones and responsibilities. TASL’s outpatient program offered added flexibility while still providing comprehensive essential care. I noticed you could participate in the medication assisted treatment (MAT) modality which was designed for people struggling with opioid addiction.

Intensive Counseling and Care

As clients received medication to manage your withdrawal symptoms, in the standard outpatient substance use disorder (SUD) program, you could participate in counseling that is offered on an individual or group basis. Therapeutic approaches that may have been used included cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and relapse prevention.

This facility treated adults of all ages and also provided specialized care for members of the LGBTQ+ community. Previous patients often noted that the facility felt more residential than clinical, which helped to remove the stigma from seeking treatment. TASL accepted insurance, Medicaid and Medicare, and allowed for self payment.

The clinic was located just a half hour away from the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest. I like that clients had the chance to enjoy a variety of sober activities to support their recovery, such as going on a hike or enjoying a picnic.
