About Suncoast Mental Health Center
Suncoast Mental Health Center was established in 1998 by three clinicians to provide behavioral and mental health services to children and adults in Fort Pierce, Florida. The city is a coastal town in St Lucie County situated on the Indian River Lagoon. Residents and clients on outings can enjoy a laid-back charm with uncrowded beaches and a revitalized downtown with diverse Caribbean influence.
Empowering Children and Adults
Suncoast Mental Health Center offers an alternative to traditional therapy and psychiatry services, empowering children, adults and families in a variety of settings. I like that treatment is offered in person or through telehealth, providing comprehensive care and a holistic approach to treatment.
They are a non-profit organization, accredited by The Joint Commission and dedicated to serving the residents of St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee Counties. Although their programs don’t feature structured addiction treatment options, we like that they provide various services for those in recovery, addressing the mental health issues typically associated with addiction. This helps to reduce relapse risk.
Initial Psychiatric Evals Determine Medications
They offer individual office space therapy and will work with children through teens in their school setting. This helps to address issues children and teens may have when living in a home impacted by addiction. Home based therapy is offered to strengthen family relationships and community-based therapy is also provided in a private and convenient space.
I’m glad that their therapists can provide telehealth services when needed and psychiatric evaluations are performed by psychiatrists or psychiatric nurse practitioners in an initial assessment to determine the need for medication. Medication management is also offered by the psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner to determine the effectiveness of the prescribed medication and monitor for side effects.

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Florida helps people in treatment to revisit painful thoughts and memories and learn new ways to cope with them. These newly-learned techniques replace substance use and help the individual maintain sobriety.Levels of Care
